
Pham Minh Hoang, mathématicien ayant la double nationalité française et vietnamienne, arrêté à Hô Chi Minh-Ville le 13 août 2010, a été condamné le 10 août 2011 à trois ans de prison. Lors de son procès en appel le 29 novembre 2011, sa condamnation a été ramenée à 17 mois de prison et trois ans d'assignation à résidence. Il a quitté la prison le 13 janvier 2012. Il est l'un des 41 écrivains de 19 pays qui ont reçu le Prix Hellman/Hammett 2012 pour leur engagement au service de la libre expression et pour leur courage face à la persécution.
Pham Minh Hoang, a French and Vietnamese mathematician, has been arrested at Hô Chi Minh-City on August 13, 2010. He was sentenced 3 years of prison on August 10, 2011. On November 29, 2011, the sentence was reduced to 17 months of jail and 3 years of house arrest. He came out of jail on January 13, 2012. Pham Minh Hoang is among the 41 writers from 19 countries who received the 2012 Hellman/Hammett grants for their commitment to free expression and their courage in the face of persecution.
