"La biblioteca es ilimitada y periódica. Si un eterno viajero la atrevesara en cualquier dirección, comprobaría al cabo de los siglos que los mismos volúmenes se repiten en el mismo desorden (que, repetido, sería un orden: el Orden). Mi soledad se alegra con esa elegante esperanza."
Jorge Luis Borges

I always gave importance to the diffusion of scientific ideas, first for the pleasure of communicating the interest, the beauty or the applications of mathematics, but also bearing in mind the idea that a certain scientific knowledge is increasingly necessary for the citizen to grasp today's world and participate in the debate and critics concerning sciences.

Some personal contributions (all of them are in French):

Radio Broadcasting "Les délices des mathématiques", co-produced with Sandra Delaunay, directed by Bernard Treton, broadcasted  (twice!) on the national radio channel  "France Culture" in 1989  as part of the series "Nuits magnétiques" (from 22:20 till midnight, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday).

Each year in October (in France) we celebrate the "fête de la science" and of course our university contributes to it by animating the Campus (see the site of the "fête de la science" by the Institute of Mathematics). I participated by giving a conference on prime numbers : "Nombres premiers. Problèmes anciens et modernes" (you'll find the "PDF" files with the text of my slides and the   scanned documents)

I held a written correspondance with a primary school (Ecole Frédéric Mireur, Draguignan in the south of France). The work of the pupils was presented in the congress of  "Maths en Jeans" a very active and remarkable association. Here is a sample of that correspondance  (pdf file).  I am renewing this experience this year with older students (a class of sixth forms) in Draguignan.

The Dictionnaire d'histoire et de philosophie des sciences, (Dictionary of History and Philosophie of Sciences), published by the Presses Universitaires de France (P.U.F) under the direction of Dominique Lecourt, contains numerous articles on mathematics, their history and purposes; I contributed with an article "Conjectures" (the text in PDF).

A conference at IREM de Paris 7, 25th may 2008,  which you can listen to (in French)
"Les courbes elliptiques racontées à mes enfants" [The story of elliptic curves told to my children]
